When We Are Closed
If you telephone the surgery when we are closed, you will hear a recorded message which gives you the numbers for
Go-to-Doc Ltd 0161 336 3252 and
NHS Direct 0845 46 47
Please see below for details of these services.
FOR MEDICAL EMERGENCIES ONLY
Ring 999 or visit the Accident & Emergency department at Tameside General Hospital
The Accident & Emergency department at Tameside General Hospital should be used for medical emergencies ONLY.
Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
The Accident and Emergency Department should only be used by people with serious injuries or serious illness requiring immediate treatment, but we realise that people are not always sure where else to go.
By using the other services described here next time you need treatment, you can avoid a lengthy wait at the hospital as well as helping us make sure A&E is there to look after those who need it the most.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
The Davaar Medical Centre can provide its patients with appointments for urgent problems every week day.
If your problem can wait until the next working day, please telephone or visit the surgery in the morning and tell the receptionist that your problem is urgent and you need to be seen by a doctor that day.
These are your alternatives to attending A&E:
Ring Go-to-Doc 0161 336 3252
This is a service for patients seeking urgent medical attention that cannot wait until the next day.
When you ring Go-to-Doc on 0161 336 3252, you will be given a choice:
You can:
- Get telephone advice from a Nurse if you are worried about a medical problem.
- Attend an appointment at the out of hours Treatment Centre, to see a doctor. (This is not a walk-in centre – you will need an appointment)
- Ask for the duty doctor to do a home visit, if the person you are worried about is too ill to go to the Centre.
Please remember 5 people can be seen at the Treatment Centre in the time it takes to do one home visit.
